Reflecting back on summer 2023—a year that was intense both professionally and personally—one luminous moment stands out: a week at the Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency in upstate New York with my family. The spirit of a mother-artist lingered there, giving parent-artists space to imagine: real work time, real support, real ease. The barn studio, saltwater pool, chef-prepared meals, and wooded terrain----and generous care of extraordinary artist caretakers and educators, even as I grappled with difficult subject matter. My children were met with joy and freedom. Bonfires, art-making, small rituals. I planted the early seeds of The Land Returns there, surrounded by artists whose practices still inform mine.

Now, on a long drive to the East Coast, the Alleghenies welcome us again—the rivers, the clean air, the quiet shift in rhythm. It's Soooo nice up here... The kids and I are remembering. That summer stuck with us. And this time, we’re on our way to something new. We’re feeling a little excited, a little silly, and very much in motion ✨@collarworks

Interlude Artist Residency presents...⁠

Interlude Artist Residency is a program supporting visual artists who are parents. This year, we are presenting Open Studios for our two July Residents, Tatiana Arocha and Rebecca Nava Soto. Additionally, Interlude will be offering participatory events for all ages! On Saturday from 1 - 4pm, Run Away with the Circus! Learn circus skills with the beloved Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. On Sunday from 1 - 4pm, we'll have hands on art projects with Kinderhook's SuperStories. Come by for creative activity for the whole family! Cold drinks and snacks available for all.
